Description
Rubber Bellow with Fixed Flange – HVAC Expansion Joints
Overview
Resistoflex Rubber bellows with fixed flanges are flexible expansion joints where the rubber body is permanently vulcanized to metal flanges. This construction provides a leak-tight, reliable connection for HVAC chilled water, condenser water and general water piping applications requiring thermal expansion compensation and vibration isolation.
Features
- Molded rubber body vulcanized to fixed flanges
- Single arch or double arch designs
- Reinforced with multiple fabric plies
- EPDM, natural rubber or nitrile compounds
- Fixed ANSI, BS or BS4504 or DIN flanges
- Optional control rods to limit movement
Tested and pressure certified before dispatch
Applications
- HVAC chilled water systems (chillers to AHUs)
- Condenser water piping (chillers to cooling towers)
- Pump discharge and suction connections
- Hot water and heating systems
- Cooling tower piping and connections
- Building services water distribution
- Fire fighting water systems
- General water piping requiring flexibility
Technical Specifications
- Rubber Material: EPDM (standard for water), Nitrile (for oil), Natural Rubber
- Reinforcement: Nylon or polyester fabric plies
- Flange Standards: ANSI B16.5 (Class 150), BS10 PN10/PN16,
- Size Range: DN25 (1″) to DN600 (24″) and larger on request
- Pressure Rating: Up to 16 bar (PN16) depending on size
Control Rods:
- Limit axial extension to prevent over-stretch
- Prevent bellow collapse during vacuum conditions
- Transfer pressure thrust to piping system
- Recommended for high-pressure applications
- Adjustable for required movement
Benefits
- Absorbs thermal expansion and contraction in piping
- Reduces noise and vibration transmission
- Compensates for minor piping misalignment
- Protects pumps and equipment from piping stress
- Extends equipment and piping system life
- Easy installation with standard flange bolting
- Cost-effective compared to metallic bellows
